The average cost to have a book, DVD, CD or video game delivered to their front door is $1.00 or less, compared to $15.00 to $70.00 when purchasing one of these items at a retail store.

Before starting this project. I did quite a bit of hands on research by asking strangers and acquaintances what they though of the concept and whether they would be likely to use the service or not. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and I'm sure if you discuss the concept with your friends and family, you will get the same results.

Foremost, there will be 51 dedicated business partners simultaneously promoting a service that just about everyone could use. To get a real picture of the potential impact of this arrangement. Visualize how quickly the internet will get littered with ads for Mailbag Media, when you have 51 partners consistently posting ads on a regular basis. All of those ads will quickly lead to brand awareness and adoption by the general public.

Builing on that growth, I have incorporated a number of viral traffic building programs that are sure to drive plenty of additionaL traffic to the website. Following is a brief description of these programs.

Earn free credits
Trade credits is the currency used to request media titles on Mailbag Media, and with this in mind I designed a viral marketing program called "Invite a friend - Get a free trade". This program enables members to send out personalized invitations asking their friends and acquaintances to become members of the service, and for each friend that joins our media trading community, they earn 5 free trade credits which enables them to receive at least one free media title. Personal invitations is a proven viral marketing tool, and considering members will earn free credits for using it! It is sure to be a productive membership building tool.

Win valuable prizes
Another traffic building program I incorporated which is run and paid for by the corporate administrator, is a monthly contest that members can enter to win valuable and highly desirable prizes, such as iPods and portable DVD players.

To enter the contest. Members generate a custom HTML link that they will paste on social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook, or as a signature file when posting on forums or blogs. For each click their link generates, they receive one additional chance at winning the contest. Tracking is provided so members can view how many entries they have accumulated, which encourages them to post even more. This program will generate thousands of links to the website! And as a side effect! Those links will quickly get Mailbag Media to the top of the search engine results in Google, Yahoo, AOL and MSN, providing even more traffic to the site.

A very unique affiliate program
As you're likely aware. Affiliate programs have been the driving force behind some of the most successful online properties, and I have incorporated a very unique affiliate program into Mailbag Media that is extremely beneficial not only to affiliates, but to my future business partners as well.

The exact details of the affiliate program will only be revealed to interested parties after submitting an application, but I can tell you now, the program will not only attract webmasters, it will also attract ad posters, as well as offline businesses, and best of all! The expense to our partners will only be 10% of referred sales revenue, which means the majority of your earnings will not be handed over to affiliates, which is generally the case.

As a partner of Mailbag Media. You will generate revenue by selling media and trade credits to your members. I estimate the average customer spend will be approximately $30.00 per year. A reasonable goal in my estimate is for each partner/licensee is to have 10,000 members within 12 to 18 months time, which would generate approximately $300,000.00 dollars in gross annual revenue for you.

Mailbag Media will be divided into 51 separate entities. The domain mailbagmedia.com will be the public or corporate face of the service, and there will be 50 individual sub-domains, running on 50 separate servers, each having a separate database, as well as the webpages needed to run the service on a state by state basis. (Example: Mailbag Media Florida will be hosted at http://florida.mailbagmedia.com)

Each partner will have the exclusive rights to all media trading that takes place within the state provided to them, which means all members that reside within the state assigned to you, will be your exclusive customers.

Mailbag Media is an ASP.NET 2.0 application, which took approximately three years to develop. The site consists of over 780 webpages, 0ver 100 stored procedures, and tens of thousands of lines of custom code. There are 510 front end pages and the administrative panels consist of over 270 pages. Every step was taken to ensure ease of use for both members, and site administators.

When determining the price to "get in". I decided to keep the cost extremely low to encourage my chances of finding good partners, and to limit the financial risk for all involved. I truly believe that my income should only grow substantially, if my partners incomes grow substantially.

There is a one time software licensing fee for attaining the exclusive right to offer the service in your chosen state, and each month partners will be required to submit a small portion of their sales to cover server fees, affiliate payments, national advertising fees, and the cost to run the corporate site and functions.
